The art of having a bad week

January 28th, 2012 | Personal | 0 Comments

I don’t know what is happening to me, but it started on Monday. My eye started hurting, and after a few hours, it had also gotten a wee bit swollen. However, it didn’t stop there. A few days later, my entire body started hurting, and it felt like I lost some of my ability to concentrate. Which sucks when you’re at school, btw.

Unfortunately,  Friday came, and all it brought with it was pain. More pain. A headache. That day, I had both my body hurting, and I had a headache. I still can’t believe I actually survived the day at school, but I did. Even though I wasn’t able to focus on anything at all, and probably missed out some of the lessons, even though I physically was there. Which sucks indeed. There is no real way of describing the headache I had. It was just bad. Or in fact, so bad that a person like me, who hates painkillers, had to take two. Luckily, they made me survive the evening. Which is good, even though I wasn’t feeling 100%. However, I was so tired that I fell asleep about 2 hours earlier than I’d normally do. Which says something about the situation.

Today, something else  bad happened. And this doesn’t even have something to do with my pains. Someone tried to steal my wallet. I mean, I was walking through the main entrance of one of the shopping centres here in Oslo, and suddenly this man came to me, and started speaking to me in poor English (which makes me think that he was only in Norway to work as a pickpocket). With a somewhat Eastern European accent or something, I guess. Suddenly, I could see his hand being very close to my bag. Luckily, I saw it before it was too late, and I’m happy about that, but still. It was a frightening experience, and there is no doubt about that.

Fair enough; I’m still not 100%, but I’m ok with the experience in town today. My body is still not as good as I’d like to, and I’m extremely tired. Which is unusual, by the way. I really don’t know what to do, but I hope it’s over soon…

I need to read more

December 29th, 2011 | Personal, Thoughts and opinions | 0 Comments

I’m going to become a better reader next year. That’s my very first New Year’s resolution. Reading is not something I do very often, but I want to at least try to become a better reader, and read as many books as possible.

The picture shows all my Lindquist books and the DVD for the film “Let the right one in”. The books are all in Swedish.

In the middle of the night

December 17th, 2011 | Personal, Thoughts and opinions, Uncategorized | 1 Comment

It’s Sunday the 18th of December. The last Sunday before Christmas, and the 2nd last of the whole year. That’s a wee bit weird, isn’t it?

To make it weirder, it’s now 00:21, and I started writing this entry 18 minutes after midnight. To make it even more funny.

It’s of course dark outside, and quite cold. The snow had melted for a few days before it snowed again. More snow, more ice.  Something that came to my mind a few days ago was the fact that “It’s safer to walk in the middle of the road than on the pavement”. All because of the ice that appeared after a period of melting and cooling. The pavements where quite dangerous to walk on, but the road was better because of the cars that had been driving there.

However, it’s not that late. The so-called “night buses”  haven’t started driving around yet. I think taking that as an argument for telling whether it’s late or not is a good idea. When you’re not asked to talk about how people feel. I’m a wee bit tired, but felt like writing something, just to give you an example about  how I feel.

But the Christmas holiday is coming up in a few days. I’m looking forward to that. Mostly for the purpose of sleeping.

Vinter

November 20th, 2011 | Personal | 0 Comments

More in Swedish, sorry, but my Swedish skills aren’t that good, and I want to practise a bit…

Minst 800 ord som skal lämnas in imorgon.

21. Picture of Yourself

This is me as of 23 June 2009. I thought it would be interesting to share an older picture, because I’ve only shown newer ones. It was taken by my dad using my dSLR. My camera was only a month old at that time.

20. Nicknames

November 1st, 2011 | 30 days, Personal | 0 Comments

Having a rather short name, and the fact that my name is based upon a nickname made from another Russian name, I haven’t had many nicknames. However, here are a few I’ve had over the past few years:

  •  Nadda -This wasn’t really a nickname even though I considered it to be one. It wasn’t used by my friends or family, but by younger children who couldn’t pronounce my name correctly. It took a while before I understood that it couldn’t be used as a nickname, even though I thought it could.
  • Nadi -I have no idea where this comes from, but a classmate (whom I never considered a “true” friend of mine) used that whenever she was talking to me.
  • Nadius -Used by a classmate in middle school. She didn’t use it all the time, but sometimes. I believe it’s supposed to be a “Latinisation” of my name or something.
  • Nia -A name I came up with. I started using it on a few social networks after I started learning Japanese. It’s just a simplification of my name to make it easier to spell using Katakana: ??(Nia) vs ????(Nadia). Japanese doesn’t have that “di” sound, and have to make it using several characters, which looks messy. Also, it’s now a part of my online alias, NiaXX94.

11. Favourite TV Shows

October 23rd, 2011 | 30 days, Personal | 0 Comments

I don’t have any specific favourite TV-shows. It’s more about what kind of TV-shows and which channels I like to watch.

I’m a documentary freak. I love documentaries, especially those related to medical stuff. No matter whether it’s about rare and severe diseases, or if it’s just about an emergency hospital. I’ve no idea why, but I just love watching that kind of stuff.

Also, my favourite TV-channels are TV4 Fakta, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, TLC Norge and TLC Sverige. The channels are mainly a collection of documentaries and reality-shows, but BBC Entertainment also shows some excellent crime series like Silent Witness.

I tend to just watch whatever I’m able to find on TV4 Fakta.
